Curtisha Shepherd, born on December 25, 1988, in Pahokee, Florida, is the eldest of seven children. Her parents, Sandra McCray and Curtis Shepherd, entrusted her upbringing to her godparents, Celestine Washington and Donald Brown. A trailblazer in her family, Curtisha graduated from Palm Beach State College in 2020 and Tallahassee Community College in 2022. She excelled academically, earning a place on the Dean’s list with a GPA of 3.45, and was a prominent member of the National Honor Society, Sister2Sister women empowerment organization, and the National Nursing Student Association. In 2023, she took on the role of Chapter Leader Membership Outreach Chair for the National Society of Leadership and Success. Curtisha’s academic journey is far from over; she plans to transfer to Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and aspires to earn a doctorate in child psychology to become a Pediatric Psychiatrist. Despite her numerous achievements, it is her unwavering resilience that truly defines her.
From a young age, Curtisha's compassionate nature was evident as she assisted her elderly neighbors, godmother, and grandmother, Shirley Samples. These experiences shaped her into the caring and disciplined individual she is today. She provided essential care, such as bathing, repositioning, and dressing her loved ones, and helped with household chores. This foundation in caregiving led her to pursue a career in nursing. With 17 years of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Curtisha has held various roles, including Wound Care Assistant and Floorcare Supervisor. Her professional journey has fueled her ambition to open a facility dedicated to providing affordable wound care for patients in need.
Curtisha's heart extends beyond the elderly to children, especially those dealing with trauma, grief, and depression. Drawing from her own experiences of loss, she reaches out to support young people in their healing journeys. In addition to running her own mentoring business, she remains a steadfast presence for those on the brink of giving up on life or their dreams. Her faith and resilience have been her guiding lights, bolstered by the support of her church family at Miracle Revival Deliverance Baptist and Pastor JL Foster. Curtisha's determination and confidence are also inspired by her family, to whom she serves as a role model, encouraging her younger siblings to set and achieve their goals. Her favorite quote, "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised" (Proverbs 31), epitomizes her values and aspirations. Curtisha Shepherd is truly phenomenal.
